Match a source to the question

A manufacturer document can describe the manufacturer’s specification. A regulator document can establish what that regulator has formally published. An editorial article can provide interpretation. These roles are complementary, but none automatically substitutes for the others.

Record dependence

Several articles may depend on one press release. Link those articles to the common source rather than presenting them as independent observations. Likewise, preserve the document’s date and jurisdiction: authority on one question or in one market does not establish universal applicability.

Show the unresolved part

A source ladder is an organizational aid, not a numerical truth score. Give readers the original link, the claim being discussed and the question still open. The evidence workbench on this site offers prompts for doing that without collecting personal information.

Record note

Launch edition. This is an explanatory documentation article. No physical testing or independent certification is claimed.
