Saudi Arabia’s Shoura Council has recently approved the draft ‘Special Privilage Iqama‘ (residency permit) Law, offering a number of privileges to qualified foreigners.

According to the law, the holders of such an Iqama will have family status, and can obtain visit visas for relatives, recruit domestic workers apart from owning properties, means of transport and such other advantages, the report said: Saudi Arabia Ranked 3rd Happiest Country in MENA Region.

Eligibility Requirements

Following are the six eligibility requirements for ‘Special Privilege Iqama’

  1. Applicant should have a valid passport.
  2. Applicants should be financially solvent.
  3. Applicants should be at least 21 years of age.
  4. If he is staying in the Kingdom, he should be holding a valid Iqama.
  5. He should possess a clean criminal record, devoid of any previous offenses.
  6. He should present a medical report proving he is free from any contagious diseases. The report should be in line with the requirements of the regulations in force in the Kingdom.

However, the details on the fees for obtaining the “Special Privilege Iqama”, and the required level of financial solvency possessed by the individual to facilitate obtaining the iqama has not yet been revealed.
